According to eMarketer, Russia will have 40 million Internet users per month by the end of 2008 and become the second largest online population in Europe after Germany. The Russian internet penetration will grow from 24.8 percent in 2007 to 42.7 percent in 2012.

The Russian Internet advertising market is expected to grow from $369 million in 2007 to $685 million in 2008.
Ben Macklin, senior analyst at eMarketer, pointed out that “Russia, Poland and the other Eastern European countries are the growth drivers for Internet adoption in Europe”.
According to different data from the Public Opinion Foundation, 23 percent of the Russian adult population used the Internet at least monthly at the end of 2007.
