I am a big fan of the Olympics. In Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, the U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps has won 8 gold medals, becoming the top athlete in history of the Olympics. Three gold medals were won by Jamaican sprint runner Usain Bolt, British cyclist Chris Hoy, Australian swimmer Stephanie Rice, and Chinese gymnast Kai Zou. China has won 51 gold medals in the 2008 Olympics, followed by the United States with 36 gold medals and Russia with 23 gold medals. The U.S. athletes won 110 medals in total, which is more than any other national team.
China also edged the United States in a number of unique visitors to Beijing2008.cn, the official web-site of the 2008 Olympics, reported comScore. The site attracted 16.5 million visitors during the first ten days of the Olympics, with China accounting for 4.3 million visitors (25.7%), USA – 4.1 million (24.8%), Canada – 937,000 (5.7%), UK – 853,000 (5.2%), and Australia – 463,000 (2.8%).
