Group M, which is part of WPP Group, reported their forecasts for the advertising market in Russia in 2009. The Russian advertising market will drop 11 percent to 244 billion rubles ($8.7 billion) in 2009, according to business newspaper Kommersant.
The online contextual advertising is the only advertising market segement in Russia that will increase in 2009. The Russian contextual advertising market is forecasted to increase 12 percent to 11.2 billion rubles (approx. $400 million) in 2009. The media (banner) ad spending is forecasted to drop 2.5 percent to 6.2 billion rubles (approx. $221 million).
