Rambler Media, which owns and operates one of the leading Russian online portals, Rambler.ru, has announced that the company will have new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) in April.

Olga Turischeva, who is Direct for Venture Business Development at Russia’s second largest mobile telecom operator VimpelCom (Beeline), will become CEO of Rambler Media. Previously, Olga was Marketing Director at VimpelCom from 2001 till 2007. Olga supervised the rebranding of Beeline in 2005. As a result, Beeline was named the best Russian brand by Interbrand in 2005 – 2008.

Rambler Media, which is 55%-owned by media group Prof-Media, reported revenues of $110 million in 2008. The company’s shares are traded on Alternative Investment Market (AIM) of the London Stock Exchange. Rambler has recently lost its search market share in Russia to less than 10% while Yandex, Mail.ru and Google all gained ones.

Back in 2001, I worked in Product Management at VimpelCom in close cooperation with marketing department at the company. Having known Olga‘s marketing and executive management talent, I believe that Rambler shall prosper under her leadership.
