Dmitry Kryukov, one of the founders of Stack Group and creator of the original Rambler search engine back in 1990s, died at the age of 48 last night. Rambler was first launched to public on October 8, 1996 when Dmitry was 36.
In spring 1997, Dmitry created Rambler’s Top100, the most popular Internet directory and rating system in Russia at the time. In 2000-2001, Dmitry Kryukov was Vice President of Rambler Internet Holdings. He then was a top manager at Stack Group.
Back in 1999, Rambler was the most popular search engine in Russia. Now, it is number 4 after Yandex, Google, and Mail.ru. Rambler, which recently hired new CEO, will be striving to regain its market share in Russia.
Let Dmitry Rest in Peace.
