The leading Eastern European and Russian publisher of online entertainment and browser games, Astrum Online Entertainment, which is backed by Facebook, Mail.ru, Odnoklassniki.ru and Vkontakte investor DST, has reached 5 million users in its browser-based Massive Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG), Legend: Legacy of the Dragons. Overall, more than 20 million users are registered in Astrum Online Entertainment’s game products. The company’s user base is growing at over 50,000 new sign-ups per day.
First released in Russia in 2006, Legend: Legacy of the Dragons was launched in Germany and China in October 2008 and then in Turkey in January 2009. Astrum Online plans to release the game in France, Italy and Spain by the end of 2009.
The game Legend: Legacy of the Dragons is free-to-play where anyone can play in their browser without game installation. Players pick a side and form clans in an eternal battle between the Human race and the nation of Magmars, where customizable characters of various classes and professions fight for supremacy. Massive battles featuring up to 500 players per side, a dynamic combat system, powerful weapons, spells and armor sets and a world featuring hundreds of epic quests and thousands of collectible items – this constitutes the essence of the game.
With backing from Facebook-investor DST (Digital Sky Technologies), Astrum Online was created as a result of merger of 5 companies: Astrum Nival, Nikita.Online, IT Territory, TimeZero and DJ Games. These companies launched more than 30 MMO games, including The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar, Legend: Legacy of the Dragons, Territory, TimeZero, Sphere, Piratia and Perfect World. In 2009, Astrum Online plans to launch 10 new MMO games of different genres developed in-house and 6 localized games of foreign game publishers.
