Russian-backed firm NGI is acquiring a controlling stake in French software vendor Mandriva in exchange for EUR 2 million investment, reported newspaper Vedomosti. Mandriva develops Linux-based open-source operating system Mandriva Linux.
In 2007, Mandriva raised EUR 3 million in a round led by European private equity firm Occam Capital. Mandriva sells Linux-based products and provides consulting, training and technical support services. Mandriva is listed on the Euronext Marché Libre.
Mandriva could aim to bid to create Linux-based Russian national operating system.
