The online video advertising market in Russia is expected to reach $36 million in 2011, up 100% from $18 million in 2010. The online video advertising shall account for more than 3% of the Russian online advertising market in 2011.
In 2010, some 27 million of Russian internet users, which was some 49% of total Russian internet users, watched video online, according to a research by J’son & Partners. In May 2011, the Russian internet user consumed, on average, 11 hours of online video content, according to comScore Video Metrix. More than a third of all online videos in Russia was watched on YouTube.
In May 2011, top Russian online video properties by total unique viewers were Google sites (incl. YouTube) with 30.6 million unique viewers and 1,534 million videos watched; Mail.ru Group with 18.4 million unique viewers and 165 million videos watched; Gazprom Media (owner of RuTube.ru) with 12.3 million unique viewers and 178 million videos watched and Yandex sites with 6.5 million unique viewers and 35 million videos watched. The other top video sites in Russia include RBC, Vimeo, VEVO, 24video.net, Digital Access’ ivi.ru and Tvigle.
