The alternative search engines held only 1.3 percent share of searches in Russia in August 2009, reported Vedomosti by citing data from comScore. The Russian search market leader, Yandex held 54.5 percent share of searches, ahead of Google (34.5%), Mail.ru (7.4%), Rambler (1.9%) and Microsoft’s Bing (0.4%).
