The leading Russian search engine Yandex has acquired OpenID login service Loginza, according to Yandex blog. Apparently, the Loginza founder decided to accept an offer from Yandex as opposed to raising venture funding for the project. The deal amount, which was not disclosed, is believed to be less than $1 million.
Launched in April 2010, Loginza offers OpenID protocol-based single login service widget to webmasters and site owners. Loginza widget is used by over 6,500 websites. Loginza was founded by Sergey Arsenichev (Сергей Арсеничев). The Loginza idea came from OpenID login service Janrain Engage (formely, RPX), according to Sergey.
Yandex recently acquired another startup, website usage analytics service WebVisor.
