Industrial group Access Industries of Len Blavatnik has invested in Russian group discount purchasing service Vigoda.ru. Access Industries acquired one-third stake in Vigoda.ru in exchange for ca. $6 million investment, according to newspaper Kommersant. Vigoda.ru forecasts sales turnover of $10 million in 2011, according to the paper. That would imply that the service was valued at 2x annual revenue.
Launched in 2010, Vigoda.ru has 1 million registered users. Vigoda (or Benefit in Russian) currently offers online coupons from local merchants to its registered members in over ten cities in Russia and its neighboring countries. Vigoda.ru said it already saved more $10 million to its users. Vigoda.ru founders are Shahar Smirin, Pasha Romanovski, Roi More and David Shostak.
The Russian online coupon services include Biglion, Big Buzzy, Groupon Russia (formerly, Darberry.ru), KupiKupon.ru (КупиКупон), KupiBonus.ru (КупиБонус), and Vigoda.ru. The online coupon market in Russia shall be valued at over $100 million in 2011.
In 2008, Access Industries acquired a majority stake in Russian telematics service provider AutoLocator.
