Warburg Pincus consolidates Czech and Slovak web portals, Arca Capital invests in Czech online retailer, and IBS Company buys majority of elearning solution vendor.
Centrum.cz, the leading Czech web portal controlled by the private equity group Warburg Pincus acquired the leading Slovak web portal Atlas.sk for more than EUR 20 million from EPIC Holding. The merged group will have 3.5 million monthly users in Czech Republic and 1.4 million monthly users in Slovakia.
Warburg Pincus acquired a majority stake in Centrum.cz for an estimated EUR 100 million ($147 million) in December 2007.
Arca Capital, a Slovak private equity group invested EUR 1.2 million in exchange for 30 percent of KASA.cz, a Czech online retailer of consumer electronics and white goods with turnover of about EUR 36 million in 2007.
The leading Russian IT service and system integration company IBS that is part of IBS Group acquired 51 percent of Learnware, a vendor of eLearning server and other HyperMethod online education software products for estimated $5 million. Learnware had 100 client product installations in 2007 and some 400 customers in total.
The Russian financial group Finam invests in MirTesen social network.
