Yandex To Enter Silicon Valley

Among senior executives expected to leave Yahoo! is its General Manager of Search, Vish Makhijani, who is rumored to become CEO of Yandex Labs, a new U.S.-based outpost of the leading Russian search engine Yandex, according to PaidContent. Before joining Yahoo! in 2002, Vish was General Manager at Inktomi.

Yandex is expected to do a multi-billion IPO on NASDAQ in 2008. So is Mail.ru, but in London and before Yandex. Then Yandex shall become a lucrative employer for talented tech professionals seeking careers in Silicon Valley.

Yandex continues to enhance its management team with senior executives having background in Western public markets. In December 2007, Yandex named Nilesh Lakhani new CFO. Prior to Yandex, Nilesh served as CFO of CTC Media, a leading Russian independent TV broadcaster that trades on the NASDAQ.

The company started making acquisitions to expand its product offerings by buying-out a leading Russian road traffic information service SMIlink.
