Jennifer Trelewicz, who was CTO of Google Russia, has left Google to join Russia’s leading online portal Mail.ru as Deputy CTO. Jennifer was CTO of Google in Russia for two years. Before that, she worked as Director of IBM’s first R&D lab in Russia.
Followed by rejection of its acquisition of Begun contextual advertising service in Russia last November, Google has been struggling to gain a significant market share for its search engine in the Europe’s 4th largest internet market.
Fluent in Russian, Jennifer Trelewicz has PhD in Signal Processing from Arizona State University and BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering & Mathematics from Carnegie Mellon University. She is visiting professor for the Department of Computing, Mathematics, and Physics at Waterford Institute of Technology in Ireland and makes lecture series at Novosibirsk State University in Novosibirsk, Russia.
Looking forward to doing an IPO, Mail.ru keeps attracting top executives from leading internet companies in Russia, having recently hired Yandex’s head of online mail Pavel Zavyalov to lead Mail.ru’s web mail service as well as employed Rambler’s head of search Vladislav Shabanov to lead Mail.ru’s online search business.
