The most popular Russian web properties in June 2008 were Mail.ru with 14.7 million unique visitors, Yandex with 14.6 million, the social networks Odnoklassniki.ru - 10.6 million and Vkontakte - 9.4 million, and Rambler - 9.1 million, reported business daily Vedomosti according to TNS Web Index.

Mail.ru also led the Russian market with 6.2 million daily visitors, while the social network Vkontakte (”In contact”) had 195 page views per visitor/day, which is several times more than any other site.
The new generation of Russian Internet companies, Odnoklassniki.ru and Vkontakte are on a roll to take on the Russian Internet market leaders, Mail.ru and Yandex in terms of daily and monthly audience.
The leading Russian social networks are catching up with the Russian portals in a number of users but still behind in monetizing those users.
